City To Celebrate Opening Of New Orleans Juvenile Justice Center

NEW ORLEANS – Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join City Councilmembers, Orleans Parish Juvenile Court Judges, City officials and FEMA to celebrate the opening of the $47 million New Orleans Juvenile Justice Center today, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 1100-B Milton St., at 2:00 p.m.

         This new facility serves as the home of Orleans Parish Juvenile Court and includes spaces for juvenile-related services from the Orleans Parish District Attorney and Orleans Parish Public Defender. The New Orleans Juvenile Justice Center campus includes the New Orleans Youth Study Center, the City’s secure detention facility for boys and girls under the age of 18 years old.

         Funding for this 59,000 square-foot facility came from FEMA recovery dollars, insurance, City bonds and Law Enforcement District bond funding.
