NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join Sewerage and Water Board (S&WB), city and state officials, and community members at the Carrollton Water Plant, 8800 South Claiborne Ave., to preview and tour the water tower construction project at 1:30 p.m.
The $50 million Water Hammer Project includes two new 200-foot tall water tanks that will hold four million gallons of water. In the event of complete power loss the towers will provide uninterrupted water pressure and continuous water service to the city, city reps said.
This infrastructure investment makes the city’s water supply and this facility more resilient and will help mitigate any future boil water advisories, city reps said.
