City Recommends Moving Halloween Celebration To Friday

NEW ORLEANS – Due to the forecast for this weekend, the City of New Orleans is recommending that residents move Halloween activities, including trick-or-treating, to Friday, October 30, 2015, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service’s current forecast predicts showers with probable thunderstorms for the evening of Saturday, October 31, and a strong possibility of showers during the daytime.
The City is strongly advising the public to take precautions, monitor weather conditions and make Halloween plans accordingly. They said residents should remain indoors during heavy rainfall unless an emergency makes it absolutely necessary for them to get on the road.
The City’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is monitoring weather conditions and flooded streets. The City will keep residents updated of any hazardous conditions through e-mail alerts and the @NOLAReady Twitter account.
