NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A New Orleans charitable foundation and the city of New Orleans are donating more than $59,000 in grants to community organizations helping victims of recent hurricanes in Texas, southeast Louisiana and Florida.
The announcement was made Nov. 2 by the Greater New Orleans Foundation and Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office. The grants will be made through the NOLA Pay It Forward Fund, launched by Landrieu in May 2011 to help recovery efforts following severe Mississippi River flooding.
The city says that, to date, $127,200 have been donated from NOLA Pay It Forward to organizations aiding those affected by recent hurricanes.
