NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for St. Bernard Ave. between Filmore Ave. and Robert E. Lee Blvd. in the Filmore neighborhood.
Beginning this Friday, June 5, 2015, at 7:00 a.m., both north and south bound travel lanes will shift to the west side of the existing neutral ground in order for the City to fully reconstruction this portion of St. Bernard Ave. One travel lane, in each direction, will be maintained throughout the duration of construction.
Construction crews will be excavating St. Bernard Ave. roadway to remove and replace existing water, sewer and drainage lines, replacing sidewalks, installing ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections and landscaping.
This work is part of the $7.5 million City bond-funded St. Bernard Ave. Reconstruction Project to improve roadway and subsurface utilities.
Construction crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work on Saturdays may occur, when necessary. Construction is scheduled to last through spring 2016.
Residents should use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near active construction sites.
