NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming road closure on Marengo Street between Pitt and Prytania Streets to repair portions of the roadway as part of the FEMA-funded Recovery Roads Program designed to restore Hurricane Katrina related sub-surface utilities and roadway damages.
Beginning Thursday, August 13, 2015, at 7:00 a.m., the 1400 block of Marengo Street between Pitt and Prytania Streets will be closed to river bound traffic for approximately two weeks. Lake bound traffic will be closed on an as-needed basis. The closure will allow workers to excavate portions of the roadway, replace the base and install pavement to areas of the street damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Crews will also be installing ADA-compliant curb ramps.
During construction there will be limited access to driveways and on-street parking will be prohibited.
Construction crews will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work on Saturdays may occur when necessary.
Residents should exercise caution when driving, bicycling, or walking near active construction sites.
