City Issues Traffic Advisory For Filmore Area

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory to temporarily close portions of Prentiss Avenue and St. Bernard Avenue in the Filmore area. The City is currently reconstructing St. Bernard Avenue between Robert E. Lee Boulevard and Filmore Avenue.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, Prentiss Avenue near the intersection of St. Bernard Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 8:00 a.m. through Monday, November 2, at 5:00 p.m. The closure will allow the construction contractor, Barriere Construction, to excavate the roadway and place a new concrete roadway base over the newly installed utility lines.

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, St. Bernard Avenue at Robert E. Lee Boulevard will be closed to through traffic so crews can connect new underground utility lines to existing lines. Through traffic on St. Bernard Avenue will be detoured to nearby crossover streets at Cartier Avenue (lakebound) and Wisner Boulevard (riverbound) beginning at 7:00 a.m. and lasting through Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. Robert E. Lee Boulevard will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction. Appropriate detour signage will direct drivers to alternative routes.
