Christine Javier likes her investment in her Core Creations exercise clothes by Kim Munoz, owner and instructor in Nola Pilates and Xtend Barre New Orleans on West Harrison Avenue.
“I live a busy life and need a comfortable workout wardrobe that is great for running errands after classes without having to change, or just to lounge around at home,” explains the owner of Nola Shoes and Accessories on Severn Avenue in Metairie. A real believer in physical fitness, she always makes time to stay in shape. “I especially like the capri pants,’ she continues, and then smiles and adds, “I think they rock.”
A pretty lady with a well-toned body and a pleasant smile, Christine is quick to point out that her shop has something for everyone at a reasonable price and she feels the same way about Core Creations. “Everything is well made, yet in line price-wise,” she adds.
Christine is like many health-conscious women who wouldn't consider wearing any cast off to her Pilates classes. “I find it is inspiring to be comfortable and still feel like I am well-dressed when I am working out,” she says.
Always a person to make time for her classes, she attempts to workout at least four or five times a week.
“Since I own my own business my time is very limited so I try to get it over with first thing in the morning and then head for work,” she says. “It starts my day off right and energizes me.”
Kim understands Christine’s focus.
“When I designed my first collection last year my goal was to provide functional, stylish performance tops, bottoms and layering pieces in modern shapes and organic fabrics to share with women like Christine who are committed to a healthy lifestyle,” she says. “She is a poster girl for what I consider a woman with an active lifestyle who is very style conscious.”
Kim entered Louisiana State University with a fashion merchandising major and planned to launch her career though New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
“Somehow the appeal of nursing school won me over,” she says. “I proudly earned my RN degree and established my health care career as a clinical intensive care nurse.” Little did she realize that by taking Pilates classes she would carve out a new career as an exercise studio owner and a return to her first love of fashion design.
“It is easy to tell that Kim has a passion for her Core Creations,” Christine says. “She got it right by using modern shapes with high-performance organic fabrics. It was also the studio-to-street aspect of the clothes that made me a regular customer.”
Christine says she is a loyal client of Nola Pilates because the staff is very educated about what they are teaching.
“They are very hands-on to make sure that you are doing everything correctly so that you can avoid any type of injuries,” she says, then she smiles and adds “Let’s be real, exercising is really not all that much fun but somehow the staff finds a way to make it enjoyable, and doing it in style with the exercise clothes by Kim adds to what always turns out to be a pleasant experience for me.”
