NEW ORLEANS – Children’s Bureau of New Orleans invites the community to its 5th Annual Children’s Hero Awards
fundraising event on Friday, October 5 from 6-9 pm at the Le Musee de F.P.C. located at 2336 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, LA 70119.
The 2018 Children’s Hero Awards will honor the following individuals that have shown an exemplary commitment
to improving the quality of life for children in the Greater New Orleans area. This year’s honorees include:
- Brandan “BMike” Odums – Artist/Activist/Mentor
- The Children of Central City Team
- Denese Shervington, MD, MPH – Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies
- Laurie & Jeff Young – 2015 & 2016 Children’s Hero Awards Host
These individuals will join an impressive “Children’s Heroes” honoree roster since the fundraiser’s inception in 2013 including former Xavier University President, Dr. Norman C. Francis, former Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu and the late, world-renowned musician, Allen Toussaint. “New Orleans truly has local heroes that have positively impacted the lives of children and youth in our community,” said CEO of Children’s Bureau Paulette Carter. She adds that Children’s Hero Awards is an opportunity for the community to acknowledge those who take charge and spread awareness through their work, philanthropy and daily lives to improve the quality of life for our local children and their families.
This signature fundraising event will include food prepared by Chef Rondino Rogers, drinks, music and engagement with community partners. Individual tickets are $125. Sponsorship packages are now available. All proceeds benefit CBNOLA and their child mental health programming.
