NEW ORLEANS – The State of Louisiana released a Request For Information (RFI) for the redevelopment of Charity Hospital in Downtown New Orleans yesterday.
The historic Art-Deco building has been vacant since 2005 when it was shuttered by Hurricane Katrina.
The one million square foot property is located in the rapidly redeveloping area of Downtown New Orleans near Canal Street, the CBD, Tulane Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, the Mercedes Benz Superdome, the French Quarter, the new Loyola streetcar line and the Amtrak Union Passenger Terminal.
The State of Louisiana offers a 25% historic tax credit program that can be coupled with the 20% federal historic tax credit program and other development incentives that can all go towards the rehab of this property ideally situated for a variety of redevelopment uses.
