NEW ORLEANS – The community is now invited to give to their favorite parish, school or ministry as part of the third annual #iGiveCatholic – a community-wide online giving event created to bring the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back. There are more than 600 participating organizations across the nation in this year’s #iGiveCatholic; and nearly 150 organizations from New Orleans.
Considered the most successful Catholic crowdfunding event to date, the third annual #iGiveCatholic will culminate on #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. This year's "Giving Tuesday" will be held on Nov. 28.
New this year, advance-day giving will provide donors even more opportunities to give leading up #iGiveCatholic. The campaign is going on now, providing parishes, schools, ministries, and not-for-profits affiliated with partner archdioceses the opportunity to connect with their current donors and establish relationships with new donors.
The inaugural #iGiveCatholic in 2015 was started in New Orleans and shattered all expectations, raising $1.36 million in just 24 hours and transforming online giving for parishes, schools and ministries. With the addition of five partner dioceses, last year’s giving day donations totaled $1.9 million in gifts for more than 300 ministries. This year, the goal is to raise $3.5 million overall and $1.8 million in New Orleans alone.
#iGiveCatholic has now grown to include 17 participating archdioceses and dioceses across the nation, including the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, Archdiocese of Mobile, Archdiocese of New Orleans, Diocese of Allentown, Diocese of Austin, Diocese of Baton Rouge, Diocese of Biloxi, Diocese of Helena, Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, Diocese of Jackson, Diocese of Knoxville, Diocese of Lexington, Diocese of Lubbock, Diocese of Memphis, Diocese of Owensboro, and Diocese of Paterson.
