Cap On Legislative Wining And Dining Boosted To $60

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Lobbyists can spend slightly more wining and dining state lawmakers and other public officials, beginning July 1.

With the start of the new state budget year, lobbyists can spend $60 for food and drink for a public official per occasion. The cap has been $58.

The Louisiana Board of Ethics, which oversees the restrictions, made the adjustment Friday.

The 2008 law that sets the cap allows increases tied to the federal Consumer Price Index for food and beverage, which rose 3.2 percent in the last year. When the law was enacted, the limit for each occasion was $50, and it has been adjusted annually.
