Caddo May Raise Worker Pay

SHREVEPORT, LA (AP) — Employees of Caddo Parish could get pay raises that are factored in the Parish Commission's proposed budget for 2015.

The Times’ Alexandria Burris reports the proposal provides for merit increases up to 3 percent and a 2 percent cost-of-living increase for the majority of Caddo's 436 employees.

The $86 million budget proposal includes spending for the Biomedical Research Foundation and Shreveport Memorial Library though the commission does not manage those organizations.

Revenue Caddo earns from property and sales taxes, gambling, oil and gas and other sources is projected to be $81 million.

The proposed spending plan was introduced to the Commission on Oct. 30. A public hearing is set for Nov. 20 and a final vote is expected on Dec. 4.
