Burglars Raid Salon, Steal $30K Worth Of Human Hair

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Burglars in eastern New Orleans skipped the cash register and made straight for the product in a beauty store caper that netted them $30,000 worth of human hair.

The New Orleans Advocate reports police said thieves knocked out the cinder block wall backing Beauty and Booku sometime between when the business was locked up at 7 p.m. on May 8 and when it opened back up at 10 a.m. the next day, making off with 125 packs of Brazilian hair bundles.

The store had surveillance cameras but they were set to record only when they detected motion, according to a police report. And the store's lights were off, so motion was never detected.

The perpetrators never touched the till, leading police to deduce that hair was the "primary target."
