BATON ROUGE (AP) — Baton Rouge will become the home of Brown & Root's new global headquarters.
Company officials announced Monday Brown & Root's executive team will move from Houston and oversee operations of the company's more than 6,000 employees, which include the 325 Louisiana employees in Baton Rouge, Mandeville and St. Rose.
State officials say the company is expected to bring a total of 925 jobs to Louisiana over the next decade.
To secure the project, the state offered Brown & Root a tax incentive package which included a $1.8 million grant to reimburse relocation costs and lease support for the corporate headquarters.
Established in 1919 in Texas, Brown & Root moved to Louisiana in 1947. The company has since been a provider of industrial maintenance, engineering and construction services.
