NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District Commission announced that it has approved a contract with local construction company Broadmoor LLC to begin renovations on the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in January of 2020.
The initial $53 million construction contract is part of the overall $450 million Superdome renovation project, which will include the removal of 80,000 sq. ft. of interior ramps, leading to future expanded concourses and new fan amenities. The work will incorporate the installation of new vertical transportation systems including stairs and elevators.
LSED Commission Chair Kyle M. France said, “As stewards of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and five other facilities, the LSED is constantly looking for ways to enhance fan and visitor experiences in our state’s premier event destination. The Superdome is an enduring symbol of our state’s success. We have a responsibility not only to uphold that reputation, but also to ensure its viability in the future.”
Details surrounding future phases of the renovation will be announced as the project progresses. For information on the Superdome renovation and ongoing project updates, visit www.envision-the-future.com.
