British Royal Navy HMS Lancaster Arrives In New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – HMS Lancaster arrives in New Orleans this afternoon to take part in Navy Week, Tuesday, April 23, – Wednesday, April 29, 2015.

         Visitors are welcome aboard.

         “It’s a pleasure to be in New Orleans for Navy Week,” British Consul General Andrew Millar said. “This is an opportunity for us to build relationships with our international counterparts, engage in some friendly competition and showcase the British Royal Navy. We will also take full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy this great city – thank you for showing us such kind hospitality.”

         “As we near the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, it seems especially right to highlight the strong and proud military alliance between the United Kingdom and the United States,” he said. “I see it fitting to recount Churchill’s final advice to his cabinet, ‘Never be separated from the Americans.’ And I’m pleased to report that our special relationship continues, stronger than ever.”
