Brand Intervention Debuts With Hot Seat Spotlight

NEW ORLEANS – The inaugural Brand Intervention business strategy and networking event, held Oct. 1 at Loft 523, drew nearly 50 attendees, including business owners, marketing professionals, and leaders from across industries. A quarterly series, the next Brand Intervention event is scheduled for Jan. 2026.

The Hot Seat

The highlight of the Brand Intervention event was the “Hot Seat” session, where one local business received live guidance from a panel of marketing experts.

“We wanted to ensure the business in the Hot Seat walks away with a real, actionable toolkit of strategies to apply directly to their business,” said Maggie Robert, founder of Pink Palmetto Media. She and fellow collaborators Sara Scioneaux of Florence Creative Marketing, Becky Angle of Angled Marketing, and Josh Owen of Comfy Stone, created the event to spark interactive discussions along with hands-on advice for businesses seeking to strengthen their brands.

The featured Hot Seat business was Vagabond Vintage, a Magazine Street retailer that also operates five stores in Texas. Owner Trent Marrs spoke candidly about his company’s branding and marketing challenges, which set the stage for the panel to offer targeted strategies ranging from sharpening brand identity and expanding public relations to leveraging influencer partnerships, local collaborations, and digital campaigns that Marrs can quickly put into practice.

Business Owner and Audience Reaction

“I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to branding and marketing. Our business has always just worked through word of mouth, but after the event, I’m feeling excited and energized to breathe new life into Vagabond and implement some of the awesome ideas the team gave me,” Marrs said.

Other attendees echoed the enthusiasm. “Brand Intervention was unlike any other networking event I’ve been to in New Orleans,” said Grace Williamson, owner of Foley Fêtes event production. “I had a great time, met some great people, and learned so much from the presentation that I can apply to my own business. I can’t wait for the next one!”

I Need An Intervention

The evening also featured a creative networking session, with cocktails by James Beard Award-winning bartender Abigail Gullo, including a specialty drink called the “Mezcal to Action.” A hidden menu item—a coconut espresso martini—was available only to those who ordered it with the phrase, “I need an intervention.”

Brand Intervention will continue as a quarterly series, with the next event scheduled for January 2026. More information is available at brand-intervention.com and on Instagram at @brand_intervention.

Founders’ Vision

“The four of us behind Brand Intervention are all owners of small, independent marketing and PR companies,” said Maggie Robert, founder of Pink Palmetto Media. “Most of us left larger agencies or corporate roles to strike out on our own, while Josh with Comfy Stone has been running his team for over a decade. Like many professionals in our field, we’ve seen the shift toward freelance and boutique agency work. In fact, more than 40% of marketing professionals in the U.S. now identify as independent consultants or contractors.”

Robert noted that the event grew out of a professional network she and her collaborators have cultivated in recent years to share referrals, collaborate on projects, and support one another. “Together, we’re able to offer the same full range of services as a traditional agency, from branding and web design to social media, PR, and podcast production, but with a more flexible and personalized approach,” she said.
