Board sets new superintendent's salary, contract terms

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — New Lafayette Parish Superintendent Donald Aguillard (AG'-ee-ahrd) will receive a base salary of $205,000 per year, with the chance to receive annual raises if he meets certain goals.

The school board unanimously approved Aguillard's contract on Wednesday. He still must sign it, but indicated that he is ready to begin work in Lafayette.

Aguillard's contract will run to May 18, 2019.

Under the terms, Aguillard will be entitled to a $5,000 raise each year if he meets five performance objectives.

Aguillard will also receive up to $4,000 per year for expenses he will incur as part of his job.

Aguillard was present at Wednesday's board meeting and participated in discussions about rezoning and French immersion.
