NEW ORLEANS — This Sunday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bike Easy, in partnership with the New Orleans Health Department, will host Kids Bike Day. The Safe Routes to School program aims to make the journey to and from schools safer for students. To encourage kids to be active and safe over summer vacation, Kids Bike Day will feature fun and educational activities, safety giveaways, and more.
The event is free and open to the public.
Kids Bike Day will feature bicycle activities for kids of all ages and abilities, from basic learning to ride, safety "rodeos" on mock streets, and more advanced road riding. A limited number of bikes will be available for use and a parent/guardian must accompany each child.
"With New Orleans' youth headed into summer break, we look forward to more kids spending time on bikes and enjoying the health and recreational benefits," says Bike Easy Executive Director Dan Favre. "We're excited to co-host Kids Bike Day to help make sure children and parents understand the basics of bicycle safety, so everyone can have a fun summer of riding!"
The event will take place at NORD Milne Rec Center, 5420 Franklin Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana 70122
