Bid Process To Start On Larose Floodwall

THIBODAUX, LA (AP) — The Larose floodwall project is moving closer to the start of construction.

Sandy Guidry, a project engineer with Angelette-Picciola design firm, tells The Courier’s Meredith Burns her company is finalizing the design package now and should start the bid process within the next two weeks.

When Guidry updated the Lafourche Parish Council Tuesday, Councilman Phillip Gouaux interrupted with applause.

The $5 million floodwall will stretch from Larose to Lockport and is expected to help protect about 375 homes and 15 businesses on the east side of Bayou Lafourche.

Gouaux, who represents the affected area, has been waiting since 2006 for money for the project to come through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
