BHBM Welcomes Intellectual Property Attorney Norton

NEW ORLEANS – Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer announced that Taylor Norton has joined the firm as an intellectual property law attorney.

         Norton, a New Orleans native, is a registered patent attorney and an engineer. He advises and assists clients – ranging from emerging businesses and individuals to Fortune 500 companies – on various intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, branding, entertainment and publicity rights. He strategically counsels and represents clients in commercial and intellectual property transactions, as well as in enforcement in litigation.

         Norton's patent practice encompasses a wide range of technologies, including computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering, oil and gas, civil construction, mobile applications and business methods. He also has extensive experience in providing legal guidance in relation to research and development tax credits and qualified research expenditures for vessel design and construction in the marine industry.

         Norton’s comprehensive trademark practice helps clients to build, protect and monetize their key images, names, brands, products and business lines. He facilitates the registration of trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and he often advises clients on the licensing and enforcement of trademark rights. Norton represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).

         His practice in intellectual property involves handling commercial transactions as well as facilitating branding and negotiating endorsements and agreements for athletic and creative talent in the sports and entertainment industries.
