DERIDDER, LA (AP) – The Beauregard Parish Police Jury will begin seeking bids from contractors nationwide next week for an $11.5 million courthouse renovation project, with options up to $12.4 million.
The American Press reports plans to renovate the 100-year-old courthouse include additions to both the east and west sides, along with exterior cleaning, repairs and waterproofing. Interior work will require the removal and replacement of mechanical and electrical systems.
Plans include three alternates. The Police Jury will be able to elect to include the additional work, provided there is enough cash left over to fund them.
Parish Administrator Bobby Hennigan said that based on the architect's estimates, the parish will be able to afford all three options and should have money left over at the end for any minor renovations.
