Baton Rouge’s Venyu Building New $35M Data Center In Jackson

BATON ROUGE (AP) — A business data company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has begun turning a former department store in Jackson, Mississippi, into a data center.

Venyu Solutions Inc. said in a news release Thursday that it's spending $35 million to restore and reinforce the 67,000-square-foot building as its fourth data center.

Construction costs also include a new building for lease to the University of Mississippi Medical Center as its Center for Telehealth headquarters.

The old McRae's Department Store building is on the National Register of Historic Places as Jackson's first suburban full-service department store — the final predecessor to suburban malls.

Venyu provides data protection services and cloud hosting and backup. It has two centers in Baton Rouge and one in Bossier City.
