BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Baton Rouge's mayor is set to announce her selection of the city's new police chief.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is scheduled to make her announcement at City Hall on Friday.
The Advocate reports that Broome's pick will come from a pool of five candidates, four of whom have served in the Baton Rouge Police Department.
A committee organized by Broome interviewed seven finalists and recommended five candidates to the mayor.
Former police chief Carl Dabadie Jr. retired over the summer. During her 2016 mayoral campaign, Broome had vowed to replace him.
Jonny Dunnam has served as the department's interim chief since Dabadie's retirement.
