BATON ROUGE (AP) — The Baton Rouge Library Board plans to take a proposal to the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council to spend $1.15 million on a building to house some of its operations.
The Advocate’s Andrea Gallo reports the board wants to buy a building at 3434 North Blvd. to use as an outreach services facility.
Based there would be three bookmobiles, recycled books and collections that have cyclical demand.
Officials say the building also would be used for employee training and would house some technical equipment.
About 15 employees would be stationed there.
The board tried to buy a different building for the outreach center late in 2013, but another bidder leased the site before the Metro Council approved the board's proposal to purchase it.
