NEW ORLEANS (press release) — Nexus Louisiana’s 12th annual Baton Rouge Entrepreneurship Week (BREW) is back during the first week of May 1-6. With an all-new festival-like experience to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, Nexus Louisiana aims to capture Louisiana entrepreneurs this year, especially in drive markets such as Lafayette and New Orleans.
Coinciding with National Small Business Week, BREW is a multi-day, multi-venue experience for entrepreneurs, investors, inventors, techies, creatives, foodies, and anyone with an interest in shaping our community. The week will kick off on Monday, May 1, with a block party celebrating the week’s theme: “Rediscover and Reimagine.”
“BREW is designed to educate and inspire established start-ups and aspiring founders. As we enter the 12th annual BREW, we want to continue to grow the entrepreneurial space as a whole, beyond just Baton Rouge,” said NexusLA’s Director of Marketing and Engagement Na’Tisha Natt. “We are looking for risk-takers, boundary pushers, and inspiring creatives in the Louisiana entrepreneurial communities.”
Each year, Baton Rouge Entrepreneur Week culminates in its exciting High-Stakes Pitch Competition, where rising entrepreneurs pitch their start-ups in front of an audience of investors and peers. The Red Stick Angel Network, a local investor group and a subsidiary of Innovation Catalyst, Inc., will award an investment prize to the start-up with the strongest pitch. The High-Stakes Pitch Competition gives our state’s most promising start-ups a chance at an investment prize totaling $100,000 to invigorate and propel their businesses to success as we all look toward the future of entrepreneurship in Louisiana. BREW is still accepting applications for the 2023 High-Stakes Pitch Competition and looks forward to witnessing the rising entrepreneurial businesses presented this year. With BREW, NexusLA aims to provide attendees with resources and opportunities to support their passions, innovations, and business growth. In previous years, NexusLA programming has been geared toward tech start-ups. In 2023, the organization is expanding its programming to appeal to a variety of start-ups and small businesses, starting with BREW. Seminar topics will include ways to build a loyal following, how to leverage alternative funding options and the rise of artificial intelligence. Past speakers include Todd Graves, Sevetri Wilson, and Julio Melera.
“One of the main advantages of BREW is its opportunity to connect attendees with individuals who share similar visions and are committed to helping the community grow,” said Natt. “As we explore new ways to reach and support small businesses, NexusLA remains committed to expanding Louisiana’s small business and entrepreneurial space.”
