Baker Hughes Laying Off 60 In Houma

HOUMA, LA (AP) — Oil services company Baker Hughes is closing a wireline facility in Houma and laying off 60 people.

         The Advocate’s Ted Griggs reports the layoffs were scheduled to take place this week.

         Brandy Brandon, a spokeswoman for Baker Hughes, says the layoff is expected to be permanent.

         She says the affected employees will be paid for a 60-day period and benefits will continue for three months after the layoff.
