NEW ORLEANS – Nancy Scott Degan, office managing shareholder of Baker Donelson's New Orleans office, has been elected to the American Law Institute (ALI).

The ALI is the leading independent organization in the United States, which produces scholarly work in order to clarify, modernize and improve the law. Members of the organization, who include lawyers, judges and academics, have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, to give back to the profession to which they are dedicated, and to contribute to the public good. The ALI elects individuals who reflect the excellence and diversity of today's legal profession and who have demonstrated an interest in improving the law.

Degan is one of 58 newly elected members of the ALI and is the only Louisiana representative in the 2017 new member class.
