Notably, that combination is already attracting global partners. A recent milestone is the partnership with Suzano, the world’s largest wood pulp supplier based out of Brazil, which selected Avondale Global Gateway as a key Gulf Coast hub after a multi-year evaluation process. The agreement brings regular wood pulp imports back to Louisiana for the first time in more than three decades, introducing new cargo flows, supporting additional jobs and reinforcing the region’s role in global trade.
This partnership reflects confidence in both Avondale Global Gateway’s current capabilities and its future trajectory as a scalable, service-driven platform for modern industry. That growth is translating directly into opportunity for Jefferson Parish.
When visiting the site today, it’s clear how much has changed in just a few years. Hundreds of workers carry out high-quality jobs such as equipment operators, logistics and business professionals, and numerous skilled trades — driving household incomes and fueling broader economic growth across the region. Continued hiring in underway. For residents of Jefferson Parish, what was once a symbol of economic loss is now a hub of bustling commerce and renewed opportunity.
The impact of Avondale Global Gateway extends beyond jobs, cargo volumes and infrastructure investments. Since reopening the site in 2018, Avondale Global Gateway and its parent company, HOST, have remained committed to supporting the communities they call home through volunteerism, local partnerships and charitable giving.
