COVINGTON – Avanti Senior Living of Covington is proud to introduce two new executives as it expands its leadership team with the hiring of a Director of Salize Memory Care and a Family and Resident Advocate.
Amber Howell, LPN, is now the Director of Salize Memory Care
Howell brings more than 10 years of high quality of care practices to Avanti Senior Living as director of Salize, Avanti’s highly specialized memory care for residents with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Howell began her nursing career as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team at Southeast Louisiana Medical Center in Kentwood, LA. She has also worked at Oceans Behavioral Hospital in Kentwood, and as part of the management team of Lakeshore Hospice and at Heart of Hospice in Hammond, LA. Avanti’s Salize program includes 40 memory care suites and follows a model of care that focuses on the mind’s strengths and establishes connections with residents’ abilities, which don’t diminish with time. The model is based on the research of Dr. John Zeisel, president of the I’m Still Here Foundation, which promotes a forward-thinking philosophy and method of caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Gene Loyacano steps into the role of Family Resident Advocate
Loyacano assists families in transitioning their loved ones from their current living situation to Avanti Senior Living. He builds and maintains relationships with residents and their family members looking for a safe and stimulating environment for their senior loved one who can no longer live alone. Loyacano has more than 30 years of experience with seniors, the last 15 of which were with a home health company that provides professional, high-quality services to the residents of Southeast Louisiana.
