COVINGTON, LA – As a means of reaching out to the community and helping those who help others, Avanti Senior Living Covington is inviting area residents to a baby shower Sunday, Aug. 13, at Avanti Senior Living of Covington, 2234 Watercross Pkwy., from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The shower is not for any one person, but rather, it is for Safe Harbor, a nonprofit agency in St. Tammany Parish serving women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. Safe Harbor offers a safe place to stay and a variety of critical support services ranging from crisis intervention, legal advocacy, playgroups, emotional support and community-based referrals for kids. All services are free with no income eligibility requirement.
Area residents are encouraged to purchase diapers, wipes, diaper crème, baby toiletries, bottles, pacifiers, pack and plays for Safe Harbor and deliver the items to Avanti Senior Living where the donations will be collected.
Those dropping off items will be treated to refreshments and are invited to walk around Avanti, the newest senior living community to open in St. Tammany Parish.
The 77,000-square foot, $15 million community provides both independent living and memory care. Avanti has 50 assisted living and 40 memory care suites. The community, which resembles a boutique hotel with resort-like amenities, offers residents a state-of-the-art wellness center with ballet barre and fitness programs, a theater area, formal and casual restaurants that provide fresh meals on demand and a full-service salon and spa offering relaxation therapy, aromatherapy, therapeutic massages, hair styling and manicures/ pedicures, reps said. In addition, the community will have a fully-functional art studio with an abundance of natural light and a display wall for residents’ artwork.
