NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management says it will offer nearly 22 million acres offshore Texas for oil and gas exploration and development in a lease sale that will include all available unleased areas in the western Gulf of Mexico.
New Orleans CityBusiness reports the lease sale will be held in New Orleans Aug. 19. It will be the eighth offshore sales under the Obama administration's five-year Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program.
A news release Thursday said the sale will include 4,083 blocks in water depths ranging from 16 feet to more than 10,975 feet.
