Arena Football League Folds New Orleans, Las Vegas Teams

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Arena Football League has folded franchises in New Orleans and Las Vegas.

A league announcement Sunday says the New Orleans VooDoo and Las Vegas Outlaws organizations had ceased operations immediately. The decision leaves the league with 10 teams.

The league board removed the Las Vegas team from postseason play after a 5-12-1 season, and moved the 5-13-0 Portland Thunder into the playoffs against the 17-1-0 San Jose Sabercats on Friday.

         New Orleans went 3-14-1.

The league says New Orleans and Las Vegas players under continuing contracts with either team would be reassigned during the offseason.

A message left Monday with the league office in Des Plaines, Illinois, wasn't immediately returned.
