BATON ROUGE (AP) — Republican candidate Scott Angelle has launched the first TV ads of the 2015 governor's race, introductions to voters who may know little about him so far.
Angelle's campaign said it was spending $200,000 to run the spots in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houma and Alexandria.
One commercial describes Angelle's work in the oil and gas industry, his large family and his hunting and fishing hobbies. The ad was released in two versions, one ending with Angelle speaking Cajun French.
The second spot features Angelle, a member of Louisiana's Public Service Commission, broadly describing his support for lessened government regulations, improved job skills training and middle class tax relief.
Three other candidates are in the race: Republican Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, Democratic state Rep. John Bel Edwards and Republican Sen. David Vitter.
