American Society of Anesthesiologists Convene in New Orleans

More than 15,000 professionals from more than 90 countries will convene in New Orleans for the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Annual Convention, ANESTHESIOLOGYTM 2014.

The five-day event, from Saturday, October 11, to Wednesday, October 15, will be held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and feature more than 500 sessions on the latest science and technology in the specialty of anesthesiology.

         Featured presentations will address the challenges of perioperative medicine, the cost and structure of the healthcare system and the study of opioids. More than 100 international presentations will provide attendees with a global perspective on their chosen specialty.

In addition, The National WW II Museum will present a wartime anesthesia exhibit from Friday, October 10 to Tuesday, October 14, and the ASA will host the fifth annual Hope for the Warriors® 5k Run/Walk on Sunday, October 12, at 6 a.m. at the Convention Center. Attendees, exhibitors, local residents and military personnel are all welcome to join in the fundraising event to support wounded warriors and their families.

The ASA is an educational research and scientific association of physicians, organized to raise and maintain the standards of the medical practice of anesthesiology and improve the care of patients.

The Annual Convention was last held in New Orleans in 2009. This year's convention is projected to have an economic impact of more than $17 million.
