Amedisys Reports Revenue Dip But Held Fourth-Quarter Profit

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Amedisys Inc., a national home health and hospice company based in Baton Rouge, reports an adjusted fourth-quarter profit of $9.1 million, or 28 cents per share, compared to a loss of $9.6 million, or 30 cents per share, a year ago.

         Amedisys said its revenue dipped to $300.5 million, compared to $303.5 million a year earlier.

         For 2014, Amedisys recorded a profit of $12.8 million, or 39 cents per share, compared to a loss of $96.2 million, or $3.08 per share, for 2013. Amedisys's 2014 revenue was $1.20 billion, down from $1.25 billion a year earlier.

         However, the 2013 figures were lowered by a $150 million settlement involving the company's Medicare billing practices.

         The Advocate’s Ted Griggs reports the company beat Wall Street's earnings forecasts for the quarter but fell just short of revenue projections.
