BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ Amedisys Inc. (AMED) on Tuesday reported second-quarter profit of $33.3 million.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based company said it had net income of 98 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 78 cents per share.
The home health care and hospice services provider posted revenue of $411.6 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $403.6 million.
Amedisys expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.32 to $3.41 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.63 billion to $1.65 billion.
Amedisys shares have risen 78 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $93.63, a rise of 98 percent in the last 12 months.
