Aloft New Orleans Downtown Moves In

The playful, yet stylish Aloft New Orleans Downtown hotel opened earlier this month in the historic Central Business District (225 Baronne St.) with a design and atmosphere that appeals to the social and technology-minded travelers.

“The Aloft brand’s state-of-the-art design aligns perfectly with New Orleans, which is increasingly becoming a tech hub,” says Gary Gutierrez, president of HRI Lodging, LLC. “Bringing the Aloft brand to the Crescent City was an obvious decision.”

Part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Aloft New Orleans Downtown features 188 spacious loft-like rooms, an outdoor splash pool, a 24-hour fitness center and 3,500 square feet of flexible meeting space. The hotel includes the added convenience of fast and free Wi-Fi accessible in all guest rooms, as well as meeting rooms and public spaces.

Keeping in line with New Orleans’ thriving entertainment scene, Aloft New Orleans Downtown has incorporated their WXYZ Bar, which offers live music that will feature emerging local artists.

Repurposing a building that was left vacant post-Hurricane Katrina, the 30-story building and adjacent lot have been converted into a mixed-use complex anchored by the new hotel. The property will also feature 192 upscale apartment units known as The Strand, as well as a public parking garage with 356 parking spaces. The Strand is currently accepting applications for rentals.

“The entire building was left vacant after Hurricane Katrina and we saw the opportunity to preserve another historically significant building to the city,” says Tom Leonhard, president and chief operating officer of HRI Properties.
