Allstate Agents, HandsOn New Orleans Community Volunteers To Build Disaster Preparedness Kits At Dirty Linen Night

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Foundation and Points of Light are bringing their 14-city disaster preparation tour and education campaign to New Orleans on Dirty Linen Night, on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 912 Royal St., from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Research shows 85 percent of Americans are unprepared for disaster and nearly half lack emergency supplies for use in the event of a disaster.

Community volunteers with HandsOn New Orleans and local Allstate agents will work side-by-side to help hundreds of New Orleans residents build free disaster preparedness kits they can use to keep safe in the event of a natural disaster or unforeseen emergency.

The free kits will include a hand-crank flashlight, a first aid kit, an emergency blanket and other items proven to keep people safe and prepared.

This event will also help educate New Orleans residents on the importance of preparedness.
