OBERLIN, LA (AP) — Allen Parish school employees will receive an extra paycheck in December.
The American Press reports the school board unanimously approved a recommendation Monday from the Finance Committee to use local sales tax revenues and gambling compact funds from the Coushatta Tribe to fund stipends for its 689 employees.
As approved, degreed personnel — including classroom teachers and administrators — will receive a $2,000 one-time supplement, the same as last year. All other employees, including support workers, will receive $1,100.
School board members and substitutes will not get the stipends.
The stipends will be paid in the form of a 13th check distributed by Dec. 10.
