Allegiant Air Announces Service To Two New Cities From New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Allegiant Air announced they would be launching low-cost, nonstop service from Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) and St. Petersburg–Clearwater International Airport (PIE) to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) beginning April 2016.

“We are very pleased to be expanding our service in New Orleans,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant senior vice president of planning. “The addition of these new routes marks the success of New Orleans in our network, and we look forward to bringing more visitors and economic growth to The Big Easy.”

The new flights to Jacksonville, FL and St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL will each operate twice weekly and year-round. These flights will expand upon the flights Allegiant currently operates from New Orleans to Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Orlando-Sanford, FL; and Pittsburgh, PA.

The flights will bring more than 33 thousand additional visitors each year to the New Orleans area.

Allegiant’s reps said their innovative business model has allowed it to grow from one plane and one route to offering access to low-cost flights in over 100 cities nationwide, more than any other domestic low-cost carrier. Allegiant passengers can enjoy unique savings by bundling their air, hotel, car and even activity and attraction reservations together for less. The company has been named one of America’s 100 Best Small Companies by Forbes Magazine for five consecutive years. In 2014, AVIATION WEEK ranked Allegiant the Top-Performing Airline in North America for the third consecutive year.

“We are very happy to begin 2016 with another record setting announcement from our Airport,” said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “We appreciate Allegiant Air recognizing New Orleans as a growing destination within their network.”
