NEW ORLEANS – Allegiant Air announced new seasonal non-stop flights to Tulsa, OK from New Orleans. Tickets are on sale now and flights will operate twice weekly starting Thursday, May 26, 2016, and will run through mid-October. With this announcement, Allegiant begins its eighth nonstop flight from New Orleans, and brings the Airport’s total number of non-stop destinations served to 54 cities.
The Las Vegas based-carrier began offering service from New Orleans in February 2015 and has seen tremendous growth over the past year. The low-cost carrier is known for its ability to make leisure travel as inexpensive as possible, and for connecting smaller U.S. cities to popular domestic vacation destinations. Having proven success, this new route will continue that trend by bringing in an estimated 15,000 new visitors to New Orleans each year.
“The direct flight to Tulsa makes it easier for people traveling to New Orleans,” said New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. “It will enhance tourism and economic opportunities between our cities.”
“We are always looking to expand service to and from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport,” said New Orleans Aviation Board Chairwoman, Cheryl Teamer. “We are delighted to see Allegiant launch this new flight to Tulsa.”
“As our City continues to grow, we are pleased to see our airlines do the same,” said New Orleans Councilman Jared Brossett, Chair of the Transportation and Aviation Committee. “Allegiant’s service to New Orleans is a great win for our entire region.”
“We are very happy to see Allegiant continue to grow in New Orleans,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of Aviation for Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. “With the announcement of Tulsa, we now have 54 nonstop destinations, eight of which are served by Allegiant, and we are happy to see their brand grow rapidly in Louisiana.”
