Alexandria City Council Approves Sale Of Hotel

ALEXANDRIA, LA (AP) — After waiting years to get out of the hotel business, it took the Alexandria City Council hours of deliberation to make the deal happen.

In a 4-3 vote Tuesday, the council voted to go with Southern Hospitality Group over Windfeel Properties in the sale of the Alexander Fulton Hotel.

The Town Talk’s Jeff Matthews reports Windfeel has been managing the Fulton since September 2013.

Southern Hospitality officials say The Fulton would undergo improvements and be operated as a Holiday Inn.

The plan calls for millions of dollars of renovations to the downtown hotel, which was built in the 1980s.
