Adams And Reese Partner Shea Appointed To Louisiana Appleseed Board Of Directors

BATON ROUGE – Adams and Reese Partner William D. “Bill” Shea has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Louisiana Appleseed, a nonprofit social justice and advocacy organization that promotes systemic change to assist vulnerable populations in the community. Louisiana Appleseed is part of the National Appleseed network of 17 public interest law centers across North America.

         “I’m honored to serve on Louisiana Appleseed’s Board of Directors,” Shea said. “Adams and Reese has a longtime relationship with Louisiana Appleseed, National Appleseed and its network of regional social justice centers. I look forward to working with Appleseed in its mission of delivering pro bono services to those in need and in promoting systemic change in Louisiana.”

         At Adams and Reese, Shea serves as partner in charge of the Baton Rouge office and member of both the Commercial Disputes and Casualty and Coverage Practice Teams. Shea focuses his practice on serving commercial clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including contract and lease disputes, claims for breach of fiduciary duty and general business disputes. He also maintains an insurance regulatory practice, handling licensing and compliance issues with the Louisiana Department of Insurance and other regulating agencies.

         Elsewhere in the Baton Rouge community, Shea serves on the Board of Directors of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) and previously served on the boards of the Baton Rouge Symphony and the Country Club of Louisiana. Shea is ranked among Louisiana Rising Stars® in Business Litigation and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Louisiana, a leadership program facilitated by Council for a Better Louisiana.

         Since 2007, Louisiana Appleseed has engaged more than 200 volunteers to donate pro bono services and advocacy to effect long-lasting, systemic change in Louisiana. Volunteers use their unique skill sets to work closely with direct legal services, government agencies and other nonprofits to identify and solve Louisiana’s most challenging issues. Louisiana Appleseed also collaborates with community partners to provide research, advocacy and policy-oriented solutions to enhance their direct services.
