NEW ORLEANS – Adams and Reese attorney Lara E. White, a partner in the firm’s New Orleans office, is an American Arbitration Association (AAA) trained mediator. She is listed on the approved Register of Civil Mediators maintained by the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), and is named in “Who’s Who in ADR 2016,” published by the Louisiana Bar Journal. White has also been appointed ADR Practice Team Leader for the firm.
White is also recently published in the October/ November 2016 issue of Louisiana Bar Journal. Her piece “How Confidential Is Your Mediation?” provides an overview of current Louisiana and federal law addressing confidentiality in civil litigation along with suggestions for ensuring mediations remain as confidential and protected as they can be.
At Adams and Reese, White is a member of the Litigation Practice Group. She has litigated cases in state and federal courts across the country for more than twenty years, including in some of the nation’s most difficult jurisdictions. She has represented clients in settlement negotiations, mediation and arbitration.
Mediation is a solution-focused, prospective process to help opposing parties voluntarily negotiate a mutually beneficial agreement with the assistance of an impartial facilitator. This confidential process is highly effective to resolve matters early and inexpensively, without the costs and risks associated with a trial, once the parties are ready to commit to the joint problem-solving and early case resolution process. White works closely with the parties before, during, and, if necessary, after the mediation to open communication lines, explore issues and develop creative and effective resolution plans. She uses a facilitative yet evaluative process, depending on the unique circumstances of each matter in mediation, and can tailor her style based on the needs of the parties.
The Adams and Reese ADR Team is comprised of former judges, experienced arbitrators, mediators and litigators. The team maintains a strong history of problem solving as both neutrals and litigators to guide the parties or clients to successful resolutions.
White is a member of several ADR Professional Associations, including the American Bar Association’s (ABA’s) Section of Dispute Resolution. In the ABA Section of Litigation, she is an active member of the ADR Committee and is co-chair of the Women in Dispute Resolution (WIDR) sub-committee. She is also a member of the ADR Section of the LSBA and ADR Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association.
