NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Oscar-nominated actor John C. Reilly will reign as Bacchus in the superkrewe's Mardi Gras parade Feb. 15.
The New Orleans Advocate reports the krewe's 31 floats and 30 marching bands will roll on the Sunday before Fat Tuesday. Its theme is "Children's Stories that Live Forever."
Krewe captain Clark Brennan, in a statement Tuesday, said Reilly is a consummate storyteller and entertainer who will delight parade goers with his outgoing style and love for children.
Reilly has appeared in more than 50 films, including three in 2002 that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. He also received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Chicago and a Grammy Award for the song "Walk Hard," from "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story."
