For the Saints to hit the field each year there has to be a field to hit, which means three weeks of turf installation at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The infill mixture for the field includes over 80 tons of sand (equal to 3,400 average sandbags), along with material from more than 27,000 recycled tires. The turf is then stitched together and ready for action.
