9th Annual Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival Simmers This Weekend

NEW ORLEANS – Expect brass bands galore at the 9th Annual Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival from Friday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 13, in New Orleans' Louis Armstrong Park, 701 N. Rampart St., from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band, the Hot 8, To Be Continued, the Pinettes, and the Tremé brass bands all will be there along with many more. Winners of the 5th fifth annual Class Got Brass student brass band competition will also be announced. And don't forget the gumbo. Twelve local restaurants will showcase their interpretations of New Orleans' signature dish. Sampling size portions will be available, so attendees can mix and match.

There will also be a special performance by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra's new brass band. All that, plus an Arts Market and special activities for the kids with local artists leading interactive and creative workshops. The Kids Area will have enclosed areas for diaper-changing and nursing.

Admission to the festival is free.
