NEW ORLEANS – The 9th Annual Laugh Out Loud! Comedy for a Cause benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will take place on Friday, October 2, 2015, at Southport Hall, 200 Monticello Ave.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show will start at 8:30 p.m.
The show will feature stand-up comedians Dane Faucheux, JD Sledge, James Cusimano and Matt Owens.
The Leukemia & Lyphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
Founded in 1949 and headquartered in White Plains, NY, LLS has chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
Team In Training participants have raised more than $850 million on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As one of the fastest growing programs in the country, the Louisiana Chapter's Team in Training program has been an integral part of this success.
About the comedians:
• DANE FAUCHEUX, a New Orleans based comedian, has performed at festivals, theaters, and bars across the country. His performance as a stand-up comedian has been described as whimsical, smart, and odd, by a really nice older lady he met after a show in Minnesota. Dane is a former member of the sketch group Stupid Time Machine. Dane's festival credits include, Fun Fun Fun Fest, Hell Yes Fest, Dallas Comedy Festival, The Megaphone Marathons, Chicago Sketch Festival, and San Francisco Sketchfest.
• J.D. SLEDGE was voted the Best Local Comedian in New Orleans 2012 by Gambit Weekly readers. He has appeared at The House of Blues, Boomtown Casino, Treasure Chest Casino, The Howlin' Wolf, Republic New Orleans, Le Chat Noir Theatre, Tipitina's and at comedy clubs in both Houston and Chicago. J.D. derives much of his comedic material from his everyday life experiences and his style can best be summed up in 3 words: INTENSE, INTENSE, INTENSE! Notably, J.D. is also the co-founder of The Comedy Fusion Revival Tour, which produces comedy shows at several well-known New Orleans venues, including a monthly feature show at The Irish House on historic St. Charles Avenue.
• JAMES CUSIMANO is a native New Orleanian comedian/actor/musician who has performed at venues in the Southeast including Harrah's Casino New Orleans, The Howlin' Wolf, Boomtown Casino, Le Chat Noir, and Hollywood Casino in Mississippi. He was recently voted 2015's #2 Best Local Comic by Gambit. James was a writer for the satirical newspaper The New Orleans Levee. Along with being a performer, he is also the co-producer of The Comedy Fusion Revival Tour ,which hosts a monthly show at The Irish House in New Orleans.
• MATT OWENS has performed all over the South with a hysterical wit that keep audiences rolling with laughter. Matt has been a part of comedy festivals such as Hell Yes Fest and has performed with national comics including Louie C.K. and Hannibal Buress. He also performed in and produced Stand Up NOLA at the Joy Theater in May 2015.
Tickets are $20 with proceeds going to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
